Hitachi Data Systems wins $9.8m Victorian Govt tender
The Victorian Department of Human Services (DHS) has selected Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) to provide a storage contract valued at $9.8 million over five years.

The tender is part of the DHS’ four-year $324 million HealthSMART technology program. HealthSMART was put together to replace existing technology infrastructure for the Victorian public health department.

Under the agreement, HDS will implement its Hitachi Universal Storage Platform. The platform offers tiered storage and virtualisation capabilities.

The platform will also enable the delivery of a wide range of HealthSMART applications to participating public health agencies, including the Financial Management Information, Patient & Client Management and Clinical Systems.

During the tendering process one of the Department’s key requirements was that the product be able to accommodate varying service levels in a shared environment whilst being able to scale to accommodate projected growth over a five year period, said Mark Kay, managing director Hitachi Data Systems A/NZ.

The solution for HealthSMART will be implemented and project-managed by Hitachi Data Systems’ global solution services division, said Kay.
