LinuxWorld comes to town
Penguinistas will be celebrating with the news that the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo franchise is coming to town for the first time.

To be held in Sydney, the Linux and open source showcase will concentrate on business infrastructure and enterprise networks.

Organisers are expecting more than 2,500 attendees at the conference that will feature speakers from Novell, HP, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, Red Hat, Unisys and Sophos.

Executive director of Linux International, Jon Hall, is expected to deliver the conferences keynote which, unsurprisingly, will argue that free software gives more value to solutions and better ROI than closed source software.

Tutorials from HP, Oracle, Red Hat and Novell on topics such as will also feature on Samba administration, deploying and developing OPAL (Oracle PHP Apache Linux), the security features of Linux, and existing and emerging visualisation technologies.

A number of labs will also run and will look at open source tools; designing and implementing an Open Source centralised authentication solution, high availability clustering, and Open LDAP fundamentals.

The conferences third day will be dedicated to open source in the government sector in Australia, Malaysia and New Zealand.
