Service Pack 3 release moved to first half of 2008.

With Vista set to deploy next month, Microsoft has pushed back the release date for the next Windows XP update.

Originally estimated to be released in the second half of 2007, Windows XP Service Pack 3 is now scheduled to be available some time in the first half of 2008.

Microsoft edited its "Service Pack Road Map" page earlier this week with the new estimated release date.

The last Service Pack update for Windows XP was released on August 6th, 2004.

The company said earlier this week that it plans to have its latest operating system, Windows Vista, in the hands of selected business customers next month. A Vista release to the general public could come some time in December.
